Regulation Not Regulation Draft

[0:00:00] Nick: Hello and welcome to another regulation supplemental piece of content. This one, it's a draft. And because I'm hosting it, that means it's probably my idea. Probably. You think? Certainly. I think it's probably your idea, yeah. Most likely. Anyway, today we're doing the regulation, not regulation draft, which I've left up to total interpretation across the board. Somebody could think. I'm going to push back against that a little bit. I feel like you had a little bit of a
[0:00:27] Andrew: vision of a draft and none of them could understand. understand it. And so you've now just opened it to their own interpretation. Well, I pivoted, I pivoted it for folks who may not. Cause I'm on your side. I get it, Nick. And I feel my picks are going to align with what your
[0:00:43] Nick: vision was. Excellent. And what was your original vision, Nick? Well, my original, I was standing on Alcatraz Island and I was standing at the gift shop checkout.
[0:00:51] Eric: They finally locked you up. They had some time. No walls can hold me.
[0:00:55] Nick: So they tried some water. Couldn't hold me either. I got on a boat. Um, the ferry actually. Anyway, this is my favorite video behind the counter was a regulation stating something about what prisoners could and could not do. And I had the idea we're regulation. This is regulation. We do a lot of not thing, not thing drafts. Ooh, that's a good one. Thing, not thing. Add it to the list. Eric, write it. I'm not writing it. Why not? I'm not writing down thing, not thing, not thing, nothing,
[0:01:21] Unidentified: nothing, nothing.
[0:01:22] Nick: I think it's a great idea. There might only be a few. So my idea was we'll do regulation, not regulation. Things that I was thinking initially were regulations. Things are listed as a regulation that aren't related to this podcast. Okay.
[0:01:35] Gavin: Okay. Nick, you originally pitched this in the middle of a Monday morning meeting. You said regulation, not regulation draft. No one really said anything. And then I laughed and called you a silly bastard. And then we didn't talk about it for two weeks, but I thought, I think we should still try it.
[0:01:50] Andrew: Yeah.
[0:01:51] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:01:51] Andrew: Oh, I'm very, I've been very vocal of, we need to do this. And I feel I'm the only one that, that got it at the time. I'm on your side. Clearly
[0:01:58] Geoff: not. Cause we're sitting here recording it right now. Open the fucking recording Jeff by
[0:02:02] Andrew: talking about that. He changed the rules.
[0:02:05] Eric: Andrew grabbed us and dragged us. He said, boys, we're doing Nick's idea. He put us
[0:02:10] Unidentified: on
[0:02:10] Eric: his back and carried us.
[0:02:13] Geoff: We will record no other videos until we record Nick's ideas. That's right.
[0:02:20] Nick: I
[0:02:20] Unidentified: brought
[0:02:20] Nick: it back up. I let, I was perfectly
[0:02:22] Geoff: fine.
[0:02:23] Nick: Letting it fall to the wayside. And even who do
[0:02:24] Geoff: you think kept it from happening then? If you got those two dickheads on your side and Eric and I are pretty pro the thing too. What are we talking about here? Our own
[0:02:34] Nick: imaginations prevented us from doing this.
[0:02:36] Eric: Um, I want to say Jeff is the least on the side of Nick for regulation, not regulation draft. I think he came in and
[0:02:44] Geoff: he said,
[0:02:44] Eric: got to figure out this
[0:02:45] Geoff: fucking draft. No. What I said was, uh, I forgot. I had to go to the bank and pay Andrew this morning. So I had planned on sitting down and figuring out my regulations this morning with a cup of coffee and a taco. And then when I left my house,
[0:02:57] Unidentified: I
[0:02:57] Geoff: went, Oh fuck, Andrew needs to get paid. Uh, and so then I went to the bank and I dealt with all that. And then I rolled into the office and realized I hadn't done my regulation homework yet. And all I said was, well, I guess I better sit down and figure that out. I had 30 minutes to do it. And I did it in four. It's not hard. It's nice. Sweet and red. You did great. Throw this stupid.
[0:03:17] Eric: I'm anti all you somehow. Nick looked at me and his jaw dropped when you called it stupid.
[0:03:23] Nick: You can put it on the, uh, probably find it in security, security video. Oh
[0:03:27] Eric: man. Well, boys, uh, it's time for the regulation, not regulation draft. You know how this goes. We're
[0:03:32] Unidentified: using
[0:03:32] Eric: Sean bears website, uh, where you can also make a draft versus draft starting soon. And then you can put in your names or the names of your friends to randomize. But boys, we have to randomize because we always start in an egg order. That's dilly pop baby face, a little sketchy, the candy man and trigger man. But how many times are we randomizing in this regulation? Not regulation draft five, five, five, Nick decide
[0:03:53] Geoff: five. What do you think the most regulation number is? It's five, right? Cause five is the five check, but there's also five of us.
[0:04:00] Unidentified: There's
[0:04:00] Geoff: five of us.
[0:04:01] Gavin: Yeah. I feel like an egg five, five. You want to do like a, a baker's regulation six. Oh, I think Nick should lead. Wow. Oh,
[0:04:11] Eric: we should start doing a baker's regulation. Me and Jeff looked at each other. You said that. And me and Jeff just started looking at each other. Oh my God. A baker's regulation. I love it. It's in the Lord. Wow. All right. We're doing it six times
[0:04:25] Geoff: charter.
[0:04:26] Eric: A baker's regulation is six. Here we go. One, two, three, four, five would be Andrew, Jeff, Eric, Gavin, Nick, six, Eric. Yes. Jeff, Nick, Gavin, Andrew, Andrew. How do you feel being on the end here?
[0:04:46] Andrew: Uh, I'm a little nervous cause my board is four things. So, uh, you are the guy who makes 26
[0:04:53] Eric: for everything else. Yeah, but I felt really
[0:04:56] Andrew: good about the four that I have in this. What if someone picks
[0:04:58] Geoff: one? Yeah.
[0:05:00] Unidentified: What
[0:05:00] Geoff: are you going to do? Chances are there's going to be overlap in these picks?
[0:05:04] Andrew: Um,
[0:05:04] Geoff: very, I think it's going to be pretty good.
[0:05:06] Unidentified: I
[0:05:06] Geoff: mean, the pool is all regulation.
[0:05:09] Eric: That's true. Yeah. Yep. Uh, while the regulation, I'm going to set the tempo, but this one's an outlier on my list, but I felt really good about it. And I told myself if I get the first pick, this is going to be my pick. And I don't think anything else is going to be sweating sort of on this, like where this place is on this level, whatever. My first pick in the regulation, not regulation draft is face. Oh, Oh, uh,
[0:05:38] Unidentified: uh,
[0:05:38] Eric: that to me is the most regulation, not regulation thing. Wow. I don't think you could get more regulation without it being not regulation and face to me. And there's going
[0:05:51] Unidentified: to
[0:05:51] Eric: be a lot of bleep. Hang on. Face is going to have a lot in here. Uh, as we kind of go through this stuff, because I have a feeling there's going to be some overlap with like old episodes and funny joke and all kinds of things. So funny joke, funny joke. So I do think number one with a bullet for me is face. Nick thoughts. I love it. Nick loves it. That means you guys have to like it.
[0:06:16] Geoff: It is a unique pick. I mean, that's the most regulation, not regulation thing.
[0:06:21] Unidentified: I
[0:06:21] Geoff: think you might have, I mean, honestly to the, by the letter of the law, that might be the number one answer. That's how I feel. That's how I feel about it. It's well done. I'm very happy. Uh, Jeff, how did you feel about that? Did I take it off your board? Uh, you did not take it off my board. I went with a different direction from mine. Although I did consider the direction that you are now, uh, headed in and,
[0:06:42] Unidentified: uh,
[0:06:42] Geoff: ultimately I zagged and I'm going to go slightly different. Uh, I'm up though. Let me dazzle and amaze you with my first pick. When I look at the pool of regulation, I look at all the regulations that exist in the history of universe or universe. That's a lot. Uh, so I tried to narrow down to a few key elements, few key. What'd
[0:07:00] Unidentified: you
[0:07:00] Geoff: say? Nothing. Go ahead. Am I, am I talking too much?
[0:07:03] Eric: No, no, absolutely not. No, you're just checking out all the regulations from about 20 minutes ago.
[0:07:08] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:07:08] Geoff: Yeah. About 20 minutes ago is when I sat down to, to, to do my, uh, the deep dive, you know, I'd done some preliminary searches before and I came across what I think is the most ridiculous sports regulation in history. Oh, I love it. It
[0:07:20] Unidentified: is
[0:07:20] Geoff: called the baseball cap catch penalty in major league baseball. It is illegal to catch a ball with your cap. If you do, the batter is awarded three bases. No, three. If you catch a ball thrown to you by another player on your team with the hat, with a hat in the service of, uh, an at bat, that batter is awarded to base. No way. Yeah. But that's the
[0:07:44] Eric: whole
[0:07:45] Geoff: thing from a
[0:07:45] Eric: league of their own. I know that's like the best part.
[0:07:48] Unidentified: I
[0:07:48] Gavin: know catching it in the real world though. It's an instant finger bang for the other team. Yes.
[0:07:54] Andrew: That's
[0:07:54] Eric: crazy.
[0:07:55] Andrew: So it has to be like a, this is a respectable game, right? Is that the origin you think of the rule? Like they thought it would be silly to catch with,
[0:08:05] Unidentified: I
[0:08:05] Andrew: think
[0:08:05] Eric: that it's like, it's like an uncouth, ungentlemanly. That's what I'm thinking. Really, really, really old rule. Right.
[0:08:11] Gavin: What if your cap fell in your glove? Then you're fucked.
[0:08:16] Eric: Oh yeah.
[0:08:16] Unidentified: If
[0:08:16] Nick: your cap fell into your, well, then
[0:08:17] Eric: you got to get rid of it real fast. Like you're playing right field and then your hat gets blown off. Yeah.
[0:08:24] Unidentified: It
[0:08:24] Eric: lands in your glove
[0:08:25] Andrew: with the bowl. It'd be a funny prank to sew somebody's hat into their glove. They had no choice.
[0:08:32] Eric: Like, like, like
[0:08:35] Andrew: really quickly or what? Uh, you can do it beforehand. Maybe it's a back to back game and you're like, you know what? I'm going to really get them the next day. So that hadn't,
[0:08:45] Gavin: then it always looks like they're rubbing their head when they're wearing it.
[0:08:51] Eric: I wonder if you would notice. If you would notice that your hat is sewn into your glove?
[0:08:57] Unidentified: They can
[0:08:57] Eric: be
[0:08:57] Andrew: pretty big. They can be pretty floppy big and they're closed. Okay. Uh-huh. So it could be like a pop-up book situation where like you put the glove on and you're not really looking in the glove. You don't check the glove typically.
[0:09:09] Gavin: Andrew, you would obviously be a huge advantage with the size of your hat would be a much easier. Oh,
[0:09:14] Andrew: it would be unfair. I mean, it's possible the rule is meant for people like me. It'd be like playing with a giant fishing net. You
[0:09:22] Eric: feel singled out. Uh, too far. I
[0:09:24] Andrew: think they maybe curbed the rules. So a person like me wouldn't have too much of an advantage.
[0:09:29] Unidentified: A
[0:09:29] Eric: person like me, they're coming for me. Yeah. And people like me. I think one
[0:09:34] Geoff: time in 1954, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder, Bill Verdon attempted to stop a ball by throwing his glove at it. Yes. Which didn't quite work, but umpires still applied to this rule in order to batter three bases. Good.
[0:09:48] Eric: Yeah. I'm against throwing your glove at the ball to catch the ball. I'm anti that.
[0:09:53] Geoff: Just catch it. Don't do it. You'll lose three bases. Pretty bold. Essentially hitting a triple or like Gavin said, a finger bang.
[0:10:00] Eric: A finger bang.
[0:10:02] Unidentified: It
[0:10:02] Eric: is.
[0:10:02] Unidentified: Finger
[0:10:02] Eric: bang. Yeah. But now the cap catch penalty is off the board and Nick, we go to you. You are the, uh, impetus of this draft. So I'm very curious because this is going to be maybe setting the tempo for the rest to this. Oh,
[0:10:17] Nick: you know me and I love food. I went to Andrew's neck of the woods for this one. So Canada actually has an entire set of regulations dedicated to maple syrup. Does it really? Yes.
[0:10:29] Unidentified: So
[0:10:29] Nick: maple syrup, Canada maple syrup regulations. Yes. Uh, and one in particular that I want to call out here states that it's illegal to claim a product as maple syrup when it's not. I mean, that just seems like a reasonable. I mean, isn't that just, isn't that most things? No, but have you ever gone and bought like a, what is it? Mrs. Buttersworth. Okay. It calls itself maple syrup. It's not maple syrup. So it would be illegal in Canada to sell that product. What is it? Oh, it's, uh, I think it's just corn syrup. Isn't it flavored like
[0:10:58] Eric: maple? Isn't it like some, like it's like, it's like pancake syrup is what they call it now. I think, I think, I think they just call it pancake syrup.
[0:11:05] Unidentified: I think
[0:11:05] Eric: even the U
[0:11:06] Nick: S had to pivot recently and call
[0:11:07] Eric: it like pancake syrup. How do you feel about calling it pancake syrup, Gavin? It feels like that's something you'd be against.
[0:11:13] Gavin: That sounds wrong because then what am I doing with my waffles?
[0:11:16] Eric: Waffle syrup.
[0:11:17] Unidentified: Get
[0:11:17] Eric: some maple syrup, man. Get some waffle syrup.
[0:11:19] Gavin: Yeah.
[0:11:20] Eric: To me, it sounds like it's made out of that thing. So you're making syrup out of pancakes.
[0:11:25] Unidentified: Sounds
[0:11:25] Nick: disgusting. Ooh.
[0:11:27] Eric: Let's
[0:11:28] Nick: get in the lab. How, and how are you, we'll make some waffles and then we'll make some waffle syrup out of waffle. That's interesting. How do you make syrup? I assume there's some liquid involved, a grinder.
[0:11:42] Andrew: What if you put additional butter and syrup in the batter and you don't even need to spread the, the non-spreadable needed waffle or pancake? Oh, just eat
[0:11:52] Gavin: it with like a spoon. Surely the butter would go gammy before the rest of the syrup though.
[0:11:57] Andrew: Well, I'm saying you make, you make like a standard mix, right? Of like pancake mix or whatever. And then you do a second one where you pour a whole bunch of syrup into the batter and then drop some extra butter in. Cook those up. Then what? And then what happens? Then you cook them up. And then the ones with
[0:12:13] Unidentified: the
[0:12:13] Andrew: butter and the syrup in it, you don't need to put additional things potentially.
[0:12:17] Eric: I felt like you were saying just put the butter and the syrup in and eat it from the bowl.
[0:12:22] Andrew: No, no, no, no, no, no. You cook them. But the point is, is you've now flavor
[0:12:26] Eric: infused the dough. So you're just sort of, you're, you're positing instead of making a regular pancake or whatever, make a McGriddle.
[0:12:34] Andrew: Yeah, I guess. You know what? Hey, you're right.
[0:12:37] Eric: You've reinvented the McGriddle,
[0:12:38] Andrew: but there's no butter in the McGriddle. Is there? No, there's not. So this could be a further innovation. Are you sure they don't fry something in butter? The Ray Griddle. I'm sorry, the what?
[0:12:50] Unidentified: The
[0:12:50] Andrew: Ray Griddle, uh, uh,
[0:12:53] Eric: Ian Griddle, uh, I thought he said Ray Griddle and I'm like, Ray doesn't, Ray's not on this show. He doesn't want anything to do with it. He loves a griddle though.
[0:13:02] Andrew: Griddle 98 style. The last great griddle.
[0:13:06] Geoff: Griddle
[0:13:06] Eric: 98.
[0:13:08] Andrew: Griddle
[0:13:08] Eric: 98. This was a good idea. Summer of griddle playlist.
[0:13:13] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:13:13] Eric: All right. Well, Andrew, how do you feel about a Canada maple syrup regulations for or against? Uh, for absolutely. I like my products to be labeled correctly. I agree. There you have it.
[0:13:24] Unidentified: Um,
[0:13:25] Eric: Gavin, any of these, uh, gotten
[0:13:26] Gavin: off your board here? None of these were on my board. Um, I sort of took this draft to mean, you know, any, any rules, any weird laws, any of this is possible. I feel like everything's been within those limits so far, but I believe the most regulation regulation has been left off the table so far. And that is no scrumping.
[0:13:49] Unidentified: Oh,
[0:13:50] Andrew: wow. I would argue that's regulation though. Oh, now I sell a sign, but face isn't. Oh, it's
[0:13:59] Unidentified: not.
[0:13:59] Nick: It's called face.
[0:14:01] Andrew: Well, what area that we sell? No scrumping. If no scrumping is in the face area, then I think you're fine. Yeah. Although we've sold a no scrumping sign as regulation. We
[0:14:10] Geoff: sell it now too,
[0:14:10] Andrew: but yeah, it's in our store. It's in the regulation
[0:14:13] Eric: store, but no scrumping. Isn't something we invented, invented.
[0:14:18] Gavin: Yeah. Some places you're not allowed to scrump
[0:14:20] Eric: and they don't know who the fuck we are. No, that's true. I would say God, I would say most places that say no scrumping don't know who we are. I would say
[0:14:32] Gavin: most no scrumping was written have probably been written eight to 900 years ago.
[0:14:38] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:14:38] Andrew: I completely agree with that. But in the context of regulation, not regulation, it does feel weird to draft an item that we sell in the store.
[0:14:46] Geoff: Well, he's not selling the sign or he's not, he's not drafting the sign. He's drafting the act of being a, of it being illegal to scrump, but the sign is
[0:14:54] Gavin: representative of the act. I put the sign in the discord as a nice visual to my pick, but it really is just the act of not scrumping.
[0:15:00] Andrew: Be like,
[0:15:01] Gavin: and the, uh, it'd be like saying we
[0:15:04] Andrew: don't sell Spider-Man merch, but we sold the poster for Spider-Man in the store. But Spider-Man did, but
[0:15:11] Eric: I'm trying to figure out what he's saying so I can push back against it, but it's hard to understand
[0:15:20] Gavin: our podcast by like almost a thousand years. Plenty of things predate our podcast. Like Spider-Man.
[0:15:27] Andrew: I think that if this is not considered a part of the regulation universe, would you say that no scrumping is part of the regulation universe as a reference of the show?
[0:15:37] Unidentified: If
[0:15:37] Andrew: you made a book of terms in the regulation, well, that that's fair. It's
[0:15:42] Eric: so weird that you're planting your flag on this one and not the very first one.
[0:15:45] Gavin: Well, I, I had questions about the first one, but like, it's like saying, because we sold a baseball cap. Does that disqualify Jeff's pick? That's interesting.
[0:15:54] Andrew: I don't think it's that interesting. No, because I think baseball caps can be more of a general thing. This is a very specific thing to me. So that's the whole, that's the difference.
[0:16:03] Geoff: I just, I feel like it's a thing that existed in the universe that we latched onto and we can't really take some sort of ownership over. We can carve out a little place in the universe where it exists for us as well. But I feel like no scrumping in, in has existed culturally for like Gavin said,
[0:16:20] Unidentified: a
[0:16:20] Geoff: thousand years. Absolutely. I just
[0:16:22] Andrew: think that so much of what is regulation wasn't necessarily stuff that we came up with.
[0:16:27] Gavin: I got so worked up trying to try to figure out an argument for this that I sort of rose up in my seat and I spilled coffee all over my dick.
[0:16:36] Unidentified: I
[0:16:40] Andrew: just wanted to flag it. I'm on your side. You're all you're on my side. Oh, thanks. I'm on your side. I'm not going to vote against it. I just think that this is like, this is really skirting the line. I don't
[0:16:52] Eric: understand how it's skirting the line. I don't
[0:16:54] Unidentified: think so.
[0:16:54] Eric: We sell a sign and it's
[0:16:56] Andrew: a regulation terminology thing. Derrick picked
[0:16:59] Unidentified: f***
[0:16:59] Geoff: face. But we don't sell a f*** face shirt. If you said gregging or salad creaming was a regulation, I would say no, that's specific to us.
[0:17:10] Unidentified: I
[0:17:10] Geoff: agree with Jeff. But no scrumping. I just feel like it's broader. For me,
[0:17:14] Andrew: if you made a book of like, what are key phrases, things in the regulation universe, no scrumping is definitely there, which muddies the water to
[0:17:21] Unidentified: me.
[0:17:23] Andrew: Right. But it's regulation, not regulation. Like I would argue this is regulation. Regulation is the point I'm making. But it's an it's an actual rule. It's in place.
[0:17:35] Unidentified: But
[0:17:35] Andrew: we've adopted it as part of the show and the law adopted baseball caps and the podcast and baseball caps are a general idea. This is a specific thing. That's the difference from
[0:17:46] Eric: I wouldn't I wouldn't think it's so not like I'm not I would like not be against what you're talking about because, you know, getting Gavin's a lot of fun. But I picked f*** face and I just think that that
[0:17:58] Andrew: is an error that died. And I agree. I had the same questions.
[0:18:01] Gavin: You're saying the the act of not stealing apples is more us than f*** face. I
[0:18:08] Andrew: think that we sell a sign point as in the regulation store of no scrumping about the rule. I'm going to sell
[0:18:16] Gavin: a sign that has whatever you draft next. I have to decide. Look at
[0:18:24] Andrew: my board. We've got a retroactively taken down.
[0:18:27] Eric: Well, here we have our new sign that's going to be in the regulation store on Gavin's
[0:18:32] Andrew: side. I think the pick is very funny. It is an incredible regulation. It is a fun word. I just think it leans too much into it. But Nick doesn't seem to have a problem with it. It's his draft. It's fine.
[0:18:44] Unidentified: I
[0:18:44] Andrew: picked f***. Nick's fine. Face died.
[0:18:49] Eric: Gavin. Gavin. This is so crazy. Face died. Gavin. I'm on your side.
[0:18:54] Geoff: Gavin. I am so excited to see what our new sign is. I
[0:18:58] Eric: can't wait to see what our new sign is. Andrew, what's our new sign? Oh,
[0:19:01] Geoff: here we go. Boy.
[0:19:02] Unidentified: Here we
[0:19:02] Geoff: go.
[0:19:03] Andrew: Okay. Well, our new sign. Let me get a link ready for this.
[0:19:11] Eric: Oh, boy.
[0:19:13] Andrew: It's
[0:19:13] Unidentified: a
[0:19:13] Andrew: sing-along. Potentially. What?
[0:19:16] Eric: It's a sing
[0:19:17] Andrew: -along? It's
[0:19:18] Unidentified: a
[0:19:18] Andrew: sign-along. It's a sign-along. It is from a show I hated as a child. Not too big of a fan as an adult. I am selecting the Rules and Regulations song from Thomas and Friends.
[0:19:33] Nick: We can't sell that. Damn. Oh, we could get a partnership deal, maybe. Rules and Regulations. Can we sell a sign
[0:19:40] Geoff: that just is a picture of a cartoon train that just says similar train? That would be unrelated. What if we called it the Rules and Regulations train? On a sign. Yeah, on a sign.
[0:19:52] Andrew: Regulation train sign. This is a song all about celebrating rules and regulations. I felt like it was appropriate to lead my board to set a tone of what I will be bringing with the rest of my draft. The thumbnail
[0:20:04] Eric: that they have? That train looks fucked up. Yeah, dude. He looks fucking gonzo, dude. He broke
[0:20:10] Andrew: the fucking rules, man.
[0:20:12] Unidentified: Did he
[0:20:12] Andrew: break the rules? He did break the rules. And it can be difficult living by the rules. It can be boring. It can not be fun. But hey, rules and regulations are there to protect us. Make sure we obey the rules and you'll go
[0:20:24] Eric: far.
[0:20:24] Andrew: That's right.
[0:20:25] Eric: That's absolutely right. Gavin, how do you feel about this first pick for Andrew?
[0:20:32] Gavin: Oh, phenomenal pick, Andrew.
[0:20:33] Eric: Thanks. Thanks, Gavin.
[0:20:35] Gavin: I'm always on your side. You've done well to... It's unsellable for me.
[0:20:42] Andrew: It's somebody else's IP. You just can't do it. It's a great
[0:20:46] Gavin: pick.
[0:20:48] Andrew: And with that great pick out of the way, I wanted to make a pick specifically for Nick. Because this was his idea. And this is, I think, in some ways, a celebratory thing of Nick and his draft coming up with Genius. I'm going with an iconic series of regulations. That was not insulting at all. That was a genuine... I didn't mean it. I apologize. It's okay. No, it's all right. The pick itself is actually kind of insulting. That was... Going with an iconic list of rules and regulations.
[0:21:22] Geoff: Pulling straight
[0:21:23] Andrew: from the Fight Club universe, we have the Fight Club regulations. But more specifically, the sixth rule of Fight Club is no shirts, no shoes.
[0:21:34] Unidentified: Oh, I hate you.
[0:21:36] Andrew: Well,
[0:21:36] Eric: it's the sixth rule of Fight Club off the board. No shirts,
[0:21:40] Gavin: no shoes. Yeah. I kind of want to make a no shoes side for Nick. Well, no shoes. Please don't.
[0:21:46] Geoff: No shoes for Nick. No shoes. No shirt. No problem. Can it just say no shoes for Nick? No! No shoes, comma, for Nick. Please! No shoes, comma, for Nick, comma,
[0:21:59] Nick: please!
[0:22:00] Geoff: Oh, damn. One second.
[0:22:01] Andrew: Let me open up the regulation store so I can get a preview of what Gavin's next pick is. One
[0:22:05] Unidentified: second.
[0:22:08] Eric: Oh, man. Well, the sixth rule of Fight Club is off the board. Just tough because there's so many rules and regulations to Fight Club. In fact, there's eight, and I didn't remember that there were eight of them. I didn't remember all of them either,
[0:22:21] Andrew: but I was like, I bet you there's some dumb rule in there. This is going
[0:22:24] Unidentified: to
[0:22:24] Andrew: be a stupid rule list. I was very happy to see that Nick was on
[0:22:27] Unidentified: board. They don't say
[0:22:27] Andrew: the rule, do they?
[0:22:28] Eric: I think he does. I think he runs them all down.
[0:22:31] Gavin: Oh, wow.
[0:22:32] Eric: Yeah. I think he talks about them, especially because if it's the first night, you have to fight. That was a big one. I remember that in the movie, yeah. I don't remember them spending a lot of time on feet in that movie, but maybe I'm wrong. Gavin, the sixth rule of Fight Club is off the board. So what are you picking that Andrew's going to be mad at you for?
[0:22:53] Gavin: I mean, are other rules from that list draftable still? Well, yeah. He only picked the sixth rule, right? Yeah, absolutely.
[0:22:59] Eric: You
[0:22:59] Gavin: could
[0:22:59] Eric: draft other rules from
[0:23:00] Gavin: that list. I won't, but good to know. My next pick is a phenomenal sign that I saw when I was in Japan.
[0:23:09] Unidentified: Oh, is
[0:23:09] Gavin: it protected by falcons? No. Oh, that's a good one. Well, it's not really. Never
[0:23:14] Eric: mind. It's not really a regulation, but okay.
[0:23:17] Gavin: I saw this sign, and I was laughing about it with Alyssa, and I took a picture of it, because it simply states, Stop. Please do not anything.
[0:23:28] Andrew: What? What? Please do not anything. Please
[0:23:33] Gavin: do not anything.
[0:23:34] Nick: Wow.
[0:23:35] Gavin: What are the rules and regulations of whatever
[0:23:37] Eric: that is? Wow, it really says that. It really says in English, Stop.
[0:23:44] Andrew: Please do not anything. That's a great sign, because you have to break it.
[0:23:49] Eric: Yeah. You
[0:23:49] Gavin: do. There's no... You have no choice. You're immediately thrown into a lose-lose situation the second you need that sign, and that's why I love it. It traps you. That's a great
[0:23:59] Eric: sign. Wow. That is a big trap. Now, I think that that's one we could sell in the store, Jeff.
[0:24:05] Geoff: Ooh. Don't... Stop. Don't do anything. Stop. Do not... Please do
[0:24:09] Unidentified: not
[0:24:09] Geoff: anything. Please do not anything. Yeah. I like that. Do you guys want to sell that? I think we could sell that. How would you feel if we sold that, Gavin? Stop. Please do not anything. I
[0:24:17] Gavin: mean,
[0:24:18] Unidentified: I
[0:24:18] Gavin: feel like we're stealing someone's excellent work, but I'm all for it.
[0:24:21] Eric: I'm fine with that. Now, Andrew, if we sold that sign in the regulation store, what would
[0:24:27] Andrew: happen with Gavin's pick here? If we had this draft again tomorrow, part two, I would consider it not eligible.
[0:24:35] Gavin: Interesting.
[0:24:35] Eric: Yeah. I totally agree. But as a pick, you'll allow it, even if we do make a sign of it later.
[0:24:43] Andrew: Yeah, because it's not... It hasn't been established already. Okay. I'm just seeing where the line is. That's all. I'm just asking because I want to know where
[0:24:49] Unidentified: this is.
[0:24:49] Andrew: Is that he made a pick before it was even thought of or discussed in the regulation universe.
[0:24:55] Nick: But the day that sign comes out, we'll put out the poll again. Exactly.
[0:24:59] Unidentified: This
[0:24:59] Nick: draft. Right? Right, Andrew? That's right. That's right. That's right.
[0:25:04] Eric: That's right.
[0:25:04] Nick: You're not in front. That's right. Right.
[0:25:05] Eric: Yeah. That's correct. Please do not anything, but Nick, please give us your second pick in the regulation, not regulation draft.
[0:25:13] Nick: Well, I want to continue as I work my way south from Canada. We're in Wisconsin now. Okay. So, Wisconsin Oleo Margarine Regulations. What? What? Oleo Margarine?
[0:25:26] Unidentified: Yeah, O
[0:25:26] Nick: -L-E-O Margarine.
[0:25:27] Unidentified: That's
[0:25:27] Nick: one word. Is this a butter rule? Is
[0:25:30] Unidentified: it
[0:25:30] Nick: margarine? Well, it is a butter rule. Margarine cannot be served as butter in Wisconsin. All margarine must be clearly marked so it's distinguished from real butter. Also, it can't be served in schools, hospitals, or prisons unless there's special permission allowed. What?
[0:25:48] Unidentified: Yeah.
[0:25:49] Gavin: There you go. So, prisoners have to believe it's butter?
[0:25:52] Nick: Well, they have no choice but to believe it's
[0:25:55] Eric: butter. It is butter.
[0:25:56] Unidentified: They're required
[0:25:56] Eric: by law. Yeah.
[0:25:57] Nick: I think it's inhumane to serve margarine.
[0:26:01] Eric: Margarine. Uh, you guys for or against margarine? Against.
[0:26:05] Gavin: Against. Don't like. I have no idea if I could tell the difference. I, yeah, I don't. It's. If you marged up a bit of bread and buttered up another one, I, I wonder if I could even tell. Are
[0:26:15] Eric: you a mom from the 90s? I know that it was a whole thing where like they dyed it to be closer to like the color of butter and then they said, hey, no, no, you can't do that. Should we have a Gavin blind margarine
[0:26:26] Geoff: butter? Yes. I can't believe it's not butter. Can't Gavin
[0:26:28] Eric: believe it's butter? I'm going to write that down. Gavin believes it's butter. Gavin believes it's butter. I'm putting it in the idea bank right now. Gavin, how do you feel about trying to see if you believe if it's butter? I
[0:26:38] Gavin: can't wait to find out if I believe it's not butter or not. What?
[0:26:42] Geoff: Right thing, not thing while you're there. No. No, but definitely do write a please do not anything sign.
[0:26:49] Eric: Gavin versus
[0:26:50] Nick: butter versus margarine. This is all. This is this. What an idea. Thanks, me.
[0:26:57] Eric: Stop, please do not anything sign. Got it. It's in the idea bank.
[0:27:03] Gavin: Nothing.
[0:27:03] Eric: Nope. Well, now we know what you can and can't do with margarine. Yeah, I got you in Wisconsin and Wisconsin. It should be everywhere. It should be. It should be everywhere. OK, Andrew, you're I mean, as a Canadian, you feel any strongly strong way about butter versus margarine? Yeah, I don't like margin.
[0:27:21] Andrew: Not a fan of it. There are there are Canadian butter laws I saw. I didn't go too deep into them.
[0:27:26] Unidentified: Uh,
[0:27:29] Andrew: it's a lot. Canadian dairy farmers, very restrictive of importing butter related products. Interesting. Excellent.
[0:27:38] Eric: Hmm. But Jeff margarine off the table.
[0:27:43] Geoff: What do you have? Uh, similar to Nick's theme, I'm going, I'm going with states from, uh, well, at least for this pick. As of 1969, did you know that in the state of Washington, top left of the country up there? It is. Yeah. Pacific Northwest, they call it. It's as far, far north as you can go before you hit Canada. It is like Canada's foot, right? It's like, it's the toilet that Andrew sits on is essentially. They say that. Yeah. Yeah. The toilet Andrew sits on. As of 1969, thanks to regulation RCW 77.15.130, it is a legal, it is illegal to harass or take protected wildlife in the state of Washington, which includes Bigfoot.
[0:28:33] Andrew: Bigfoot is legally
[0:28:34] Geoff: protected in the state of Washington from being harassed or, uh, touched or harmed in any way. It's a, it's
[0:28:42] Unidentified: up
[0:28:42] Geoff: to a felony. It's, it's
[0:28:44] Eric: illegal to harass Bigfoot. Yeah.
[0:28:46] Geoff: Is that why the one had to stop?
[0:28:48] Unidentified: Uh,
[0:28:48] Geoff: they were afraid in the sixties that when there's a lot of Bigfoot sightings, people were starting to put traps out and comb the, you know, the mountains trying to find Bigfoot and they were afraid that if he really did exist, we were just going to hurt him. And so they made it illegal.
[0:29:00] Eric: Illegal to harass Bigfoot.
[0:29:02] Geoff: Yeah. There
[0:29:03] Eric: you go.
[0:29:03] Unidentified: Now,
[0:29:04] Eric: what if, now imagine, imagine you're a Bigfoot hunter and you finally, like you get proof, like you got them on camera. It's like, Oh shit. I got him at a distance. I got Bigfoot on camera. He's like washing a fish on a Creek or whatever. And then all of a sudden behind you, two other Bigfoots come and they start pushing you around and like they take your camera and they break it and you can't do anything to protect yourself, Jeff.
[0:29:29] Geoff: You, I think you're allowed to defend yourself against an aggressive. Well, I don't know. Yeah. See, you think that's the case, but I don't know that you can. It's also,
[0:29:37] Unidentified: it's
[0:29:37] Geoff: one of those situations where it's like your word against three Bigfoots. Yeah. It's, it's,
[0:29:40] Eric: it's a real, he said, she said Bigfoot situation. Yeah.
[0:29:44] Unidentified: I
[0:29:44] Eric: know who
[0:29:44] Unidentified: I
[0:29:44] Eric: believe. Yeah.
[0:29:45] Andrew: It feels dumb to say a spoiler warning, but there is a really stupid comedy called Strange Wilderness where the whole point of it is they're, they're like a nature documentary show trying to find Bigfoot and they find him at the end of the film and then panic and gun him down with AK-47s as soon as they see him walk out of the cave. And then it cuts to them to stage it differently. They hang him in his cave and say that he killed himself due to loneliness and there's like all these little holes
[0:30:15] Unidentified: in
[0:30:15] Andrew: his chest. Fuck. Wow. That's what I immediately thought of. Wow.
[0:30:21] Eric: Wow.
[0:30:21] Andrew: You can't, you can't.
[0:30:22] Unidentified: Probably the
[0:30:22] Andrew: worst movie I really like. Yeah.
[0:30:25] Unidentified: That's pretty
[0:30:26] Andrew: cool. They like laugh in scenes. They break and they just don't remove it. They just do not give a fuck in that movie. It is a really bad, but I, there's something so dumb about it. I like.
[0:30:37] Eric: Wow. Huh. Well, don't harass a Bigfoot if you live in the Pacific Northwest. But you know what? You do stage it to look different. Now, if you do it, make them cross into Oregon. Oh, you bring them all the way down to Oregon, Jeff. You do whatever you want to a Bigfoot.
[0:30:55] Geoff: You fuck a Bigfoot up in Oregon. They do not care. Yeah.
[0:30:58] Eric: Chop them up
[0:30:58] Unidentified: and
[0:30:58] Geoff: sell them on the side of the road. That's right.
[0:31:03] Eric: Well, illegal harass Bigfoot off the board. Next up, I got two picks in a row and I'm going to do one. That is very face adjacent.
[0:31:17] Geoff: Oh boy. Be careful. Andrew, calm down. Andrew's about to start swinging red in
[0:31:21] Unidentified: a
[0:31:21] Geoff: second.
[0:31:21] Eric: No Falcons in non-Falconry. I guess it's like this. Movies. We learned this when we wanted a falcon to do something cool with a baseball, Jeff. And we said, dude, we should see where we can hire a falcon. Then we found out in 2008, it's federal law that you cannot have falcons on film like that in that way unless it's for falconry purposes. Yep. You cannot have them perform stunts. They can't just be there doing something. It has to be in a falconry sense. That is a huge regulation within regulation, but within face itself. Andrew, how do you feel about that?
[0:32:09] Andrew: It sounds good to me. No Falcons in non-falconry movies? Uh-huh. Interesting.
[0:32:16] Unidentified: I
[0:32:16] Andrew: mean, it's sort of like the U.S. military, right? Where they need to approve for a movie to get wide release?
[0:32:22] Eric: Yep. It is in 2008 they made it a lot. Wow. So, you know, before that, it's everywhere.
[0:32:30] Andrew: That movies that may be considered, you know, like Legends of Gahool, I guess that's a kid's book, so that's different. But I could see like a movie being like, I'm going to make a falcon movie, and then that comes in, and they're like, fuck it, we'll make them owls. We'll just swap them.
[0:32:42] Eric: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Zack Snyder said, these guardians of Gahool shall become owls. Um, Gavin, thoughts? Oh!
[0:32:54] Andrew: He did a bunch of shapes, don't worry about it. He just hit you with
[0:32:57] Unidentified: like
[0:32:57] Andrew: six shapes, it was crazy. I think he's pretty... Spilled his coffee again. I
[0:33:01] Eric: think Gavin's pretty upset.
[0:33:02] Unidentified: Did
[0:33:02] Gavin: you spill your coffee again, Gavin? No, I just made a gasp of exasperation.
[0:33:08] Nick: Why?
[0:33:09] Gavin: Because Andrew's so fine with that.
[0:33:13] Nick: But, I mean, it's a real regulation. So is no scrumping.
[0:33:17] Andrew: We don't sell a no falcons and non-falconary movies sign. Falconry. Falconry.
[0:33:23] Gavin: Right.
[0:33:24] Andrew: Falconry.
[0:33:26] Geoff: He won
[0:33:27] Gavin: an
[0:33:27] Andrew: Oscar. He sure did. Can you believe it? That's fucking crazy. Can
[0:33:32] Geoff: you?
[0:33:33] Andrew: We
[0:33:33] Geoff: invented something in that video that's not going to come out for like three or four months. It's going to be really something. Oh, man, we're going to be referencing that for a while. Yes,
[0:33:40] Eric: we are. So that's my first of my two picks. That's my second. I'm going to kick off the third round. I'm getting out of our sort of universe. You guys are going with like laws and all this. Guys are going with laws and all this stuff. I'm going to go with one that's really helped a sport. That's going to be the pitch clock.
[0:34:08] Nick: Yeah. Yeah.
[0:34:09] Unidentified: The
[0:34:09] Eric: pitch clock has done wonders for baseball. It has gained national interest. People are going to the ballpark now more than ever. Baseball is on such an upswing and it'll be a real shame when it gets locked out all of next season. So we don't get any baseball. But for now, the pitch clock reigns supreme. And I'm very, very, very happy that they've instituted it because it's been a lot of fun to watch guys really fuck with the pitch clock. Jeff, have you seen? The guy who will not come set until eight seconds and it throws off the rhythm of the pitcher. Oh, it's so good. It's so good.
[0:34:45] Geoff: The best part about sports is when they introduce a new rule or regulation and then players figure out like how to test the bounds of it. You know what I mean? And how to twist it to work for them. Yep. It's pretty good. Unintended consequences are the best thing. Yep.
[0:35:01] Eric: And the pitch clock has been a really, I think it's really injected a lot of life into baseball because now instead of three and a half hours, you got. Yeah, it saved us an hour.
[0:35:09] Unidentified: Yeah,
[0:35:09] Eric: it's about two and a half hour game really flies through and it's really good. I think it keeps everything moving and the pitch clock is going to be my third pick.
[0:35:18] Unidentified: I
[0:35:18] Eric: think my stuff is pretty varied. I feel really good about it. I think that's a great pick.
[0:35:21] Unidentified: I
[0:35:21] Eric: think that was a great pick.
[0:35:22] Unidentified: Thank you
[0:35:22] Eric: very much.
[0:35:23] Andrew: Thank you. I bet you the people that are against the pitch clock love the hat rule, the cap catch penalty.
[0:35:33] Eric: Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's that real old school baseball stuff, right? Playing the game the right way. I think the purest baseball style. Yeah, play the game
[0:35:40] Unidentified: the right way.
[0:35:40] Eric: They want to go back to no gloves. When you catch it on a hop, it's still an out. Jeff, you have your
[0:35:49] Geoff: third pick here. You only got two left.
[0:35:51] Eric: You got your third pick.
[0:35:52] Geoff: I do and I'm excited about it and it pertains to you in some small way. So you may find it interesting. Did you know that in the city of Billings, Montana, a place that I have been at some point in my life, it is illegal to raise, sell, offer for sale, harbor, give away, or transport pet rats. Unless they are being used as feed for reptiles or for legitimate scientific research or educational purposes. Pet rats are illegal in Billings, Montana. Get them out of here, they say. Get them out. I don't know. I'm
[0:36:27] Unidentified: saying that.
[0:36:27] Geoff: Section 4-304 of the Billings City Code since 1967, I believe. Isn't there a place in Canada
[0:36:33] Eric: that has zero rats? I think so. Yeah, I believe that
[0:36:37] Andrew: is
[0:36:37] Eric: something I saw. It's
[0:36:39] Unidentified: like
[0:36:39] Eric: Alberta somewhere? Somewhere. Yeah, yeah. Or something stupid like that where it's just like, oh yeah, we got zero rats.
[0:36:45] Geoff: Billings, Montana is trying to do the same. That's like asking for the rats to immigrate. I thought so too.
[0:36:50] Eric: You'd think it would be an affront to the rats. But Billings, Montana. Oh yeah. Do you think that, now Jeff, Billings, Montana, illegal rats. Do you think it's a Disney situation where like when they find a rat, they don't report it in there and they take it out to like the outskirts of Billings, Montana and then like throw it into a field and they're like, that never happened. Like, oh yeah, there's rats outside of the city of Billings. You know what I mean?
[0:37:12] Geoff: Like nobody dies in Disney?
[0:37:13] Unidentified: Like
[0:37:13] Geoff: nobody dies in Disneyland? Yeah, it's probably something like that for sure. Wow. Or they're like, this technically isn't a rat. It's a- Oh, it's a varmint? It's
[0:37:19] Unidentified: a
[0:37:19] Geoff: Neutrogena. Yeah, yeah,
[0:37:21] Eric: yeah, yeah,
[0:37:21] Unidentified: yeah.
[0:37:21] Eric: They just have, they have like big mice. Yeah, it's a
[0:37:24] Geoff: bull.
[0:37:25] Eric: Their big mouse population is crazy in Billings, Montana. Wow. I also, you know, just, just to be clear, a pet rats to me, strange. I don't get it. I agree. I don't understand. It's like, it's like having a ferret. Like, what are you doing? Like, I thought maybe it was a thing where
[0:37:41] Andrew: you just felt they shouldn't be domesticated. They should live free as a, as a rat.
[0:37:46] Eric: Rats can kind of just do whatever they want. They can live in these walls. They can live in the ceiling. I don't know. I guess you can keep them in a cage. I just think it's weird to keep a rat. Strange. Bizarre. Again. We unintentionally do so. We do. We unintentionally keep rats here at the house. Do you think the rats are keeping us? Oh. Do
[0:38:04] Unidentified: you
[0:38:04] Eric: think we're their pets? Damn.
[0:38:05] Unidentified: And
[0:38:05] Eric: if you think about it, damn. That's deep, deep. Deep. They're above us. Yep. Well, continuing with these deep picks, Nick, what's your third?
[0:38:14] Nick: My third pick, I'm going a little east now. I'm going to Connecticut, where state food regulations state that for a pickle to be legally sold,
[0:38:25] Geoff: it must bounce. So I don't want to, I don't want to throw a wrench into your, your pick here, but I looked that one up and it's not, it's not actually true.
[0:38:34] Nick: Oh, shit,
[0:38:36] Geoff: Nick. Oh, shit.
[0:38:36] Nick: All right. Delete that one. Wow. Wow. You know what, Jeff? This is in honor of Jeff. I'm going to switch my pick right here. Okay. And this one is a Jeff-inspired pick. Wow.
[0:38:46] Unidentified: I
[0:38:46] Nick: wrote it and I wasn't sure if I was going to use it, but he has brought it to the forefront. Louisiana has a regulation that says reptiles, in particular snakes, are not allowed within 100 or 200 yards of any Mardi Gras parade route.
[0:38:59] Geoff: Now, that's a regulation I can get behind. That one sounds real. I
[0:39:03] Unidentified: didn't know
[0:39:03] Geoff: that all Mardi Gras celebrations were snake-free. They are snake-free. Mardi Gras snake
[0:39:08] Eric: laws. They
[0:39:08] Unidentified: are free
[0:39:08] Eric: by a good margin. I really like the idea of Mardi Gras snake laws.
[0:39:12] Unidentified: You
[0:39:12] Eric: have
[0:39:13] Geoff: reinvigorated my love of the South.
[0:39:15] Eric: Do you think that they, like... Road trip. Do you think they have, like, a snake police that goes out?
[0:39:20] Unidentified: Oh,
[0:39:20] Eric: there has to
[0:39:20] Andrew: be.
[0:39:21] Eric: Out in Dubai. Definitely. And they go out and they try to find the
[0:39:24] Andrew: snakes and they get them out of here? They flush them out. Right before.
[0:39:27] Unidentified: Wow.
[0:39:27] Andrew: My new favorite thing is making rules for things that can't read.
[0:39:31] Geoff: They're like, we got another cert, perp. Ha,
[0:39:33] Unidentified: ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
[0:39:36] Eric: This is... Wow. I'm really... We're learning! I think that's great, Nick. Good. Really, really good pick. But, Gavin, we're going to go back to you. And we're going to see if Andrew gets mad. Gavin, what
[0:39:49] Gavin: is your third pick? well i was looking through some uh some interesting and still current uk laws and i would like to point your attention to section 32 of the 1986 salmon act which declares it is it is an offense to handle salmon in suspicious circumstances
[0:40:15] Eric: uh fuck salmon what now does it define
[0:40:20] Geoff: suspicious circumstances
[0:40:22] Eric: yeah like what that would mean like you're looking like shifty with like a trench coat or i believe
[0:40:26] Gavin: it's to prevent them from being illegally caught but uh it just sounds so vague i feel like every single scenario i can think of with me and a salmon would look suspicious
[0:40:36] Nick: yeah um if you were eating one like
[0:40:40] Gavin: well maybe what
[0:40:42] Geoff: was that the slamming salmon was that a broken lizard movie it was i think
[0:40:47] Unidentified: it
[0:40:47] Geoff: was movie
[0:40:48] Eric: now gavin why do you think they waited until 1986 to pass the salmon act i
[0:40:54] Gavin: think
[0:40:54] Geoff: and what year
[0:40:54] Gavin: were you born i've only known
[0:40:59] Eric: you've only known the uk a
[0:41:02] Gavin: post suspicious salmon world what
[0:41:08] Geoff: kind of freedom would you have had like you're like an after 9 11 kid
[0:41:12] Eric: all the all the salmon that all the salmon handling that you know in your life is within reason wow
[0:41:18] Gavin: yeah i've had very reasonable salmon interactions you've
[0:41:23] Geoff: never had a reason to be suspicious of a salmon interaction i
[0:41:26] Eric: i've never been suspicious of a salmon interaction until now where i think all salmon interactions to me are gonna be suspicious because why would they have to pass a law for this
[0:41:36] Geoff: right yeah now
[0:41:38] Eric: it's just gonna be a big question mark for the rest of my life gavin you've you i think you've you've changed me you've implanted salmon suspicion
[0:41:46] Gavin: into eric oh my god do you think you're gonna try and get this law passed in the united states no
[0:41:52] Eric: i think i'm gonna keep an eye on what could potentially be suspicious salmon and then if i see it on like multiple occasions i might become an advocate
[0:42:00] Gavin: yeah maybe five years from now you're like this is getting out of hand
[0:42:04] Eric: yeah yeah yeah you'll see me like on the news at a podium with like a big printed out like board pointing at like suspicious salmon handling that i've been seeing
[0:42:15] Nick: yeah but international waters you just can't do anything it's
[0:42:18] Eric: tough it's tough well gavin you've picked the salmon act of 1986 so andrew you cannot pick that i know that was probably one of your four but what do you have in your third pick but you also hate salmon right after
[0:42:30] Andrew: it not a fan of them killing them in splatoon currently and having a blast great my pick oh uh-huh boy this is a crazy one this is one you'll just find in the wild i've been to san francisco a few times a few times haven't been in a long time probably as like seven last time i'm in san francisco but as a thing that people do in san francisco sometimes there's a little bit of touristy uh going on a little trip they go to alcatraz and alcatraz has signs all over the place of regulations my pick sounds familiar is regulation number five from alcatraz privileges you're entitled to food clothing shelter and medical attention anything else that get you get is a privilege i'm going with an alcatraz
[0:43:23] Eric: sign okay so and you're going specifically with alcatraz regulation number regulation number five got it you are entitled to food clothing shelter and medical attention anything else you had to
[0:43:36] Andrew: counter the sixth rule of fight club that says no shirts no shoes in this one you're allowed clothing you are
[0:43:43] Eric: it's true you're also allowed medical attention which is i don't think something we get outside of alcatraz i think a lot a lot of that stuff is stuff people don't just food we're not entitled to that clothing we're not entitled to that shelter we're not entitled to that medical attention we're not now jeff i'm really starting to see the positive outcome of alcatraz here thoughts
[0:44:05] Geoff: well i did hear our our fucking genius brilliant president wants to reopen it so oh cool maybe that's why maybe he's trying to create a place for guys like you and i to feel safe and get fed i
[0:44:18] Eric: think maybe he just saw a movie like escape from alcatraz and went we should do that
[0:44:23] Geoff: i think he heard the name alcatraz i think he probably didn't know it had been closed down two synapses i bet you i bet you a hundred dollars he didn't know it was in california fuck no you don't know and that's why he stopped
[0:44:35] Gavin: i heard that one of the most depressing things about alcatraz was that when the weather conditions were right you could hear people celebrating the new year on the mainland oh
[0:44:44] Eric: wolf on the wind wolf that's rough that is rough andrew alcatraz regulation number five is off the board for you nick did you see that sign while you were in alcatraz
[0:44:55] Nick: yeah nick did
[0:44:56] Unidentified: you
[0:44:56] Nick: see that one uh i believe i saw that one but i definitely pulled that exact same picture for this draft
[0:45:01] Eric: oh nick oh nick was on his board
[0:45:04] Nick: wow it was wow so the answer is yes there will be crossover i was also thinking about commentary damn
[0:45:11] Andrew: my
[0:45:15] Nick: last pick so what's next
[0:45:16] Andrew: i'm going with canadian one i like to put some canadian flavor whenever i can this is a regulation in smithers bc pull it up i pull i search for it i got the official bylaw bylaw number 771 whereas 1986 in the international year of peace and whereas project uh whatever smithers has petitioned council with a large petition to hold a referendum to inform the public and to enable the municipal electors to make a thoughtful decision about the quality of life without nuclear weapons you are not allowed to transport nuclear weapons through smithers bc where is smithers british columbia it's in british columbia
[0:46:02] Eric: right no got that yeah where but have do you know of smithers i'm aware of it i've
[0:46:09] Andrew: never been but if i do go and i i plan on transporting my nuclear weapons i'll have to make a detour i'll have to avoid
[0:46:18] Geoff: it on that time it is do you think smithers doesn't want to be blown to smithereens oh i like that jeff i
[0:46:26] Unidentified: don't know
[0:46:27] Geoff: is this
[0:46:27] Eric: near great bear rainforest is that where they have the fat bear contest every year i don't i don't think this is near anything andrew this is just smithers british columbia is smack dab in the middle of british columbia yeah well i didn't know it was a near anything draft
[0:46:47] Andrew: or else i
[0:46:48] Eric: would have maybe changed no i
[0:46:50] Andrew: was just wondering like why they did this they did it as part of like this was during like the cold war time essentially is when they enacted it it was supposed to be like a solidarity of like fuck nuclear weapons but as you get further and further away from that it just seems ridiculous you have a small community have a very strict no nuclear weapons allowed in our town i
[0:47:12] Eric: i have looked up some information about smithers british columbia population of 5300 uh the first google result is smithers bc a good place to live and it says it offers world-class outdoor recreation yeah on a charming al alpine themed downtown however it features long winters high housing costs in a remote location they said no they they're fine with their winter just not a nuclear winter no they don't want nuclear winter yeah no no nuclear winter for smithers british columbia very interesting um
[0:47:45] Andrew: it's very rare that you go into a place and know that they have rules dedicated to make sure nobody's got nukes i
[0:47:53] Eric: guess i hadn't considered that i i guess i just figured most places would be you're not allowed to have those
[0:47:57] Geoff: sort of do you think at the like the gas stations in the grocery stores where they have the no shoes no shirt no service they also have like a no nukes yeah no shirts no shoes no nukes i
[0:48:06] Andrew: like
[0:48:06] Geoff: that yeah smart that could be one a sign we could sell no shirt no shoes no nukes yeah
[0:48:13] Eric: yeah yeah uh well andrew you're done i'm done it's complete i feel good it's complete and we go to gavin with his fourth and final pick
[0:48:25] Gavin: in the united kingdom it is an offense to let a common pet mate with an animal from the royal household without permission what if your dog bangs one of the queen's corgis for example until 1965 it was a crime punishable by death
[0:48:49] Geoff: what oh wow i wonder how if that has anybody ever been punished for that wow yeah
[0:48:58] Gavin: i wonder if any like a builder or something just brought his dog to buckingham palace yeah to do a bit of work and it bloody knocked on the fucking palace and then he they needed
[0:49:06] Eric: to they needed to write a law about it which means it happened once right i don't know
[0:49:11] Geoff: wouldn't be a law if it hadn't been an issue
[0:49:13] Nick: right you would think that's the queen's hound
[0:49:17] Gavin: yeah apparently still a law but no longer a death penalty just to find these days
[0:49:22] Andrew: oh that's wow is bitch a term for for a female dog yeah yes yes so you could have bastard bitches oh what isn't it yeah
[0:49:35] Gavin: well
[0:49:35] Nick: go on what's your thought yeah what
[0:49:38] Gavin: well i tend that no dogs are married isn't everyone a bastard oh yeah i guess that's a good point yeah
[0:49:46] Andrew: i guess there aren't dog friends that's weird i never considered that i
[0:49:52] Gavin: think
[0:49:52] Andrew: all bitches are bastard bitches i think i'm against dog marriage because i don't think they would understand i
[0:49:58] Eric: think it's only okay if you have two pets in your house and one is a dog and one is a cat and you dress them up for the wedding i think to me that's the only time you can marry them because all dogs are boys and all cats are girls so that yeah makes sense to me that you can have that kind of marriage nick thoughts sure
[0:50:18] Gavin: i think technically every dog is a son of a bitch bastard bitch wow
[0:50:28] Eric: jeff started writing it down he did he's like he's doing like a family tree just fact checking it
[0:50:32] Nick: yeah
[0:50:32] Geoff: it makes
[0:50:33] Eric: sense
[0:50:34] Nick: new shirt
[0:50:35] Geoff: idea
[0:50:35] Eric: so we just put a dog on it maybe that's our sign son of a bitch
[0:50:39] Geoff: bastard bitch well
[0:50:41] Eric: there you go illegal royal pet crossbreeding they'll send it to the punishable by death yeah that's tough um gavin you're off the board you're all done all four years are in and now we go to nick who kicked this whole thing off nick what is your fourth and final pick
[0:50:59] Nick: well according to the north carolina general assembly regulation of alcoholic beverages it's illegal to operate or participate in a game of bingo while under the influence of an impairing substance yeah
[0:51:12] Geoff: like so it's like it
[0:51:14] Nick: so it's like it's like a bui
[0:51:17] Eric: it's bingo under the
[0:51:19] Nick: influence
[0:51:19] Eric: yeah
[0:51:20] Geoff: probably like an anti-drunk gambling law or something yeah
[0:51:24] Eric: but
[0:51:25] Geoff: bingo
[0:51:26] Eric: is the game of chance so it's so the so you can get a north carolina bui oh you're going to jail for a long time it's bingo i'd never consider i never considered really sober bingo honestly uh that's that's what that was my exact thought i've never considered gambling so yeah i'm gambling but i am not impaired my
[0:51:47] Gavin: faculties considering the law within our company and our podcast about the dog called bingo andrew are you allowing this yeah because it's not it's a different thing
[0:51:58] Geoff: okay good
[0:51:59] Gavin: deal
[0:51:59] Geoff: but we do play sloppy joe's bingo yeah we play sloppy joe's bingo that's interesting actually but it's bingo bingo it's different what's the same thing
[0:52:08] Eric: why in north carolina if you're having a drink and you're watching sloppy joe's bingo
[0:52:12] Nick: yeah but that was a face thing
[0:52:13] Andrew: you know what i didn't think about the sloppy joe bingo connection i would put it in the same group as the uh no scrumping wow wow i'd protest this pick as well he's just
[0:52:25] Eric: doing that he's just he's choosing to protest this one so gavin doesn't feel bad uh see but this is a face era thing and we only
[0:52:32] Nick: sold we're talking about we play bingo all the time right but we only sold things related to it in face time but we're still producing we've
[0:52:40] Unidentified: done
[0:52:40] Nick: we've done sloppy joe's we're
[0:52:42] Unidentified: still
[0:52:42] Nick: talking about not scrumping and we still sell the sign yeah
[0:52:46] Andrew: i'm saying they're both in the same category
[0:52:48] Nick: i'm not gonna i'm not listen you know what gavin all is forgiven i think no the only reason we don't sell sloppy joe's
[0:52:55] Geoff: bingo packages anymore is because they nobody bought
[0:52:58] Unidentified: it
[0:52:58] Geoff: well if they sold what if they sold like scrumping signs i guarantee you they'd be in the store yeah they would god damn i mean we couldn't we couldn't keep the bingo boards off the fucking oh no b
[0:53:08] Nick: -u-i yeah put it up to a vote when it comes up for sale until then no bam no b-u-i sign is pretty good
[0:53:15] Eric: no b-u-i influence
[0:53:19] Andrew: that's not even sloppy joe bingo that's not the same no but it's the act of bingo it's the sport of bingo the act of bingo it's
[0:53:26] Geoff: the bingoing act maybe we just are a sign production company maybe just make signs we don't have to stop all other merchandise hold on the stick as if we can't be bothered to make a new sign i like the idea of science because they're so dumb and useless and metal well
[0:53:44] Eric: uh north carolina bui off the board jeff and i know you probably had that so we're gonna go to you for your fourth and final pick
[0:53:50] Geoff: uh man i didn't have that one i don't know how i missed it in my research but i'm bummed that nick got it although i'm pretty happy with the one that i have uh did you know that in little rock arkansas in an attempt to foster a peaceful community atmosphere by minimizing noise disturbances reflecting the city's commitment to maintaining quality of life for his residence as for its residences they have made it illegal for a dog to bark after 6 p.m i read
[0:54:19] Nick: that one
[0:54:20] Geoff: what dogs and who do not bark after 6 p.m
[0:54:25] Eric: and who gets punished
[0:54:26] Geoff: the dog owners oh oh not the dog no they're
[0:54:29] Unidentified: not
[0:54:29] Geoff: gonna you're not gonna give a dog a ticket but they give it they will ticket the dog's owner give a dog a bone because if the dog is barking after 6 p.m it's no longer fostering a peaceful community atmosphere by minimizing noise disturbances and that is not a good reflection of the city's is it a treat-based system life is it a what with who a treat-based system
[0:54:48] Eric: like give the dog a treat he'll stop good dog
[0:54:50] Geoff: good dog i mean i think it's up to the dog owner to figure out how to get the dog to stop barking it's up for the police to give tickets to the dog owners give
[0:54:59] Andrew: a dog a treat he'll stop barking for night teach a dog how to make a treat he'll stop he
[0:55:04] Unidentified: can
[0:55:04] Andrew: teach
[0:55:04] Eric: a dog a treat
[0:55:05] Andrew: there you go
[0:55:06] Gavin: teach dog treats so does that mean you have to train the dogs outside of little rock like they're obviously gonna bark when you get a new fresh dog
[0:55:14] Nick: fresh
[0:55:14] Gavin: yeah he's got this new fresh dog and it will
[0:55:16] Nick: not stop barking we got a fresh bastard bitch
[0:55:21] Geoff: hot fresh dogs yeah while it's hot and fresh you probably got to keep it inside at night uh-huh interesting so they can
[0:55:29] Gavin: bark inside well
[0:55:31] Nick: if it's not if you can't hear it outside then yeah
[0:55:34] Geoff: yeah how are you how are people gonna know if your dog's barking inside oh i hear it outside i used to hear i mean i guess it's still loud enough that it's causing a disturbance and that it's destroying the peaceful community atmosphere by increasing noise disturbances which is not a reflection of the city's commitment to maintain quality of life for his residents then i guess maybe you could be ticketed
[0:55:55] Gavin: when i lived in a semi-detached house the uh the neighbor's dog would bark every time i sneezed
[0:56:02] Eric: so if you moved to little rock and you did that oh wow i wonder if they would get you i wonder
[0:56:07] Geoff: if you could get away with getting all of your neighbors like if you didn't like your neighbors get them all fines by enticing their dogs to bark after 6 p.m and then calling the cops on them i wonder if anybody's ever done that i wonder if it'd be illegal for a human to bark after 6 p.m there
[0:56:21] Eric: that's a great question
[0:56:23] Geoff: it says dogs barking it doesn't say humans but that's a might get away with
[0:56:27] Unidentified: it i
[0:56:27] Geoff: think that's a way to test the law officer it was
[0:56:29] Eric: simply me it wasn't my dog i was i saw a cat in the street
[0:56:33] Geoff: but
[0:56:36] Gavin: the other three dogs around me responded so they're all breaking the law no those are my
[0:56:40] Eric: kids you gotta get those dogs well jeff that was your fourth and final pick but we go to me for my last pick i picked first and i'm gonna pick last and uh i'm getting real out of the zone of this stuff but potentially keeping it local to one of us andrew can i ask yes you live on near like vancouver island yeah do you know if vancouver laws apply to you oh no they wouldn't hmm interesting well you need to stay away and maybe it's good that you're watching movies at home because my final pick is something called the vancouver sunday entertainment bylaw andrew you familiar no the vancouver sunday entertainment bylaw states no movie shall be shown in the city before 1 30 p.m on sundays a bylaw created in 1963 with a 100 violation that was increased to two thousand dollars in 1979 that's gotta
[0:57:40] Gavin: be the church doing that right that's
[0:57:43] Eric: what i think i think that the church came in and they said well you can't show movies we got church andrew you ever seen a sunday movie in vancouver before 1 30 i've
[0:57:53] Andrew: seen one movie in my lifetime in vancouver it was on december 26th and it was uh meet the fuckers and i think i saw an afternoon i don't know what day tough tough december when did meet the fuckers come out i figured this out
[0:58:11] Geoff: sorry continue meet the fuckers do you know eric while he's figuring this out do you know if there's a statute of limitations on enforcement uh no it is still andrew still be in legal jeopardy right now
[0:58:22] Eric: well you know what i'm not sure because if vancouver island in vancouver don't share the same law subset in that way he might be exempt also after he only watches movies at fucking home so it doesn't seem to matter if it was meet the
[0:58:36] Geoff: fuckers in vancouver on a sunday oh you think that you think that maybe it was a sunday oh my god oh
[0:58:45] Eric: but you're saying oh you're saying you think
[0:58:47] Andrew: you saw it in the afternoon i think i did i think it was like uh okay i'm showing
[0:58:51] Eric: well that'd be too early that's before and andrew what 30 is the time you're going
[0:58:55] Unidentified: to
[0:58:55] Eric: jail oh
[0:58:56] Geoff: no they're gonna put you away for a long fucking time law enforcement doesn't listen to this
[0:59:01] Andrew: you meet the fuckers that's gonna get me in the end yeah
[0:59:04] Eric: you're gonna
[0:59:05] Andrew: meet them fucker oh shit
[0:59:06] Eric: you're gonna get fucked oh
[0:59:09] Geoff: dude
[0:59:10] Eric: yeah yeah well uh i guess i guess this isn't something andrew has to be really worried about in general not just because of the uh vancouver versus vancouver island of it all but you know when you watch movies on your phone on twitter and you count them as movies that you've seen movies fine and you don't and you don't have to worry about movie just
[0:59:34] Geoff: do it after 1 30 p.m
[0:59:35] Eric: on sunday i was definitely just don't just don't show it to other people just don't show it to other people on sunday and you'll be fine but guys there you have it the regulation not regulation draft we've filled the board that is an unhinged draft it's a pretty crazy one and here's where we landed i have drafted face i hit the wrong button thank you no falcons in non-falconry movies the pitch clock in vancouver sunday entertainment bylaw jeff has picked cap catch penalty washington illegal to harass bigfoot billings montana illegal rats unless for feeder science in little rock arkansas no dog barking after 6 p.m nick has picked canada maple syrup regulations oleo margarine regulations right wisconsin marty grau snake laws big fan north carolina bingo under the influence gotta be careful gavin has chosen oh no scrumping controversial stop the only one please
[1:00:38] Eric: do not anything new sign the 1986 salmon acts suspicious salmon handling and illegal royal pet crossbreeding great one great great i think my favorite pick of the whole draft yeah and andrew has picked rules and regulations song from thomas and friends that's funny the sixth rule of fight club yep alcatraz regulation number five and smithers becomes a nuclear weapons free zone boys those are the regulations that we chose any that are on your honorable mentions list that you want to throw in here no andrew only had four so uh billboards
[1:01:12] Geoff: in hawaii are illegal hey jeff that was my honorable mention as well yeah oh nice it's illegal to catch a fish with your bare hands in kansas oh wow
[1:01:20] Gavin: suspicious
[1:01:20] Nick: that's why nick is very suspicious you'll like this one eric yeah mexico has a regulation that states anthems must be sung in full no partial renditions
[1:01:29] Eric: oh that's really cool that is cool i like that one i
[1:01:32] Gavin: went to a cat cafe in in seoul south korea and one of the poorly translated rules was uh please do not slam their ass but i couldn't find my picture of it nick
[1:01:43] Eric: nick almost spit out water everywhere nick that really got nick oh that was close one that was in uh san diego and that we had heard about uh growing up was that it is illegal to shoot a jackrabbit from a street car in the city of san diego not a lot of jackrabbits and not a lot of street cars in the city of san diego but if you happen to see one while on one you cannot shoot it bonus points if it's called desire
[1:02:12] Gavin: i had two bonus laws that i that i almost drafted one was uh it's illegal to wear a full suit of armor in the houses of parliament and another one where if a whale is beached in the uk uh the head needs to be offered to the king or queen and the rest of the carcass belongs to the finder
[1:02:30] Andrew: oh wow that's quite
[1:02:33] Gavin: interesting that
[1:02:35] Eric: is there you have it guys those are honorable mentions and those are the regulation not regulations that were picked who had the best draft what would you pick for your regulation not regulation picks let us know vote in the poll leave a comment let us know how this all went but those are the rules and regulations and boys we did it check out the podcast check out the game plays check out patreon.com slash the regulation pod that was jeff thanks for watching and we'll see you next time bye who's the silly bastard now gavin
[1:03:12] Gavin: me you
